Building Cage Risers or False floors
For show cooping (small breeds)

We found coops at shows to be less than ideal for our bunnies.
With hay bedding, there is a tendancy to get poop-mats stuck to their bottoms.
With wood shavings- OH my! have you ever put a long haired animal in shavings?
When you have long haired bunnies to get on the tables-
all with shavings stuck in them it is a nightmare!
We had seen show risers on several sites, but since we buy our own wire for cages felt we could build our own for
less money and have them more adaptable to the coops we would be using on a regular basis.
So we built these for the fair this year and got many admiring comments at Tulsa.

These fit the coops we use at our Local Shows(Kingfisher co.) AND Tulsa State Fair
The national ARBA show lists coop sizes for their show 15" x 18" (same size as Tulsa) for the
American Fuzzy Lop - Dutch - Florida White - Havana - Himalayan -
Holland Lop - Jersey Wooly - Mini Rex - Mini Satin - Silver - Tan -
Thrianta - Lionhead - English Spots - Std. Chinchilla
For two risers You will need
38 inches of 24" wide wire that has 1 inch by one-half inch squares
side cutters for the wire
zip ties for putting them together in the cage
The most efficient way to cut them out is 2 risers at a time

These are VERY snug in the cages-
for a bit more ease you can cut the box shapes 19.5" x 11"

The larger pieces are folded to form a "box lid" shape
and are the bottom support piece.

The smaller pieces are folded only on one long edge to form a L

and are laid over the top of the support box and zip tied in place to fit the cage.

MAKE SURE you zip tie them to the correct width for the cages
so the bunny can't get caught in them- don't just leave them in there loose.

Make sure to put wood shavings down BEFORE you put in the risers if you are going to be there more than a day to
absorb urine.
Otherwise you have to "rub it through" the flooring.
We also toss in a toilet paper tube stuffed with hay to keep them busy and keep plenty of fiber in their system.
By putting it in the tube it keeps them from sitting in it and getting it in their hair.
